Ever since the “salad in a jar” craze came to be (thank you Pinterest!) I have always had fun putting together my salads for a Salad Jar – Weight Loss Surgery Lunch . Although, I still don’t always use the jar but it does feel more fun :)

In general salads have gotten so darn creative. Sometimes I wonder the section of bagged salads for ideas on what I could create for easy lunches without the dried fruit or nuts and with my own dressing choice.

I still love the taco salad in a jar method the best…can’t help it.

But THIS salad is such a classic starter to the salad in a jar method. You can certainly get creative and mix and match ingredients to your liking! It really ehlps with food fatigue after weight loss surgery.

The biggest key with salad in a jar is to layer the ingredients most moist to least moist.

I personally dump my jar out onto a plate when it’s time to eat a salad jar so I can incorporate my ingredients well and take bites more evenly and thoughtfully.

Bariatric surgery patients should focus on two bites of the protein source to one bite of the vegetable. Make your salad in a jar heavy on the proteins and smaller on the veggies to make sure your lunch stays in your pouch longer!
