New product review!

Most people have heard of “P3 Packs” for a quick and easy protein snack…or even lunch.

My feelings with P3 Packs have traditionally been this: you have to watch the fat intake! Especially the packs with cheese that is not reduced fat and a larger serving of nuts than I would recommend. Too much fat in your foods will slow down weight loss because fat = lots of calories. I’m still not a calorie counter…but it’s true you have to eat less calories than you burn for weight-loss. SO too much fat in your foods will slow down weight loss if it’s sneaking in excess calories.

That is UNTIL I heard they had a new product called “Grilled Snackers.” I purchased a few flavors at the local Wal-Mart: Teriyaki and Barbecue.

I realize those photos are tough to see – but the first is the Teriyaki pack. It contains about 3 pre-cooked chicken breast strips (non-breaded) and some Teriyaki dipping sauce. The sugar content is a bit high at 9 grams…but my recommendation there is to use the smallest amount of sauce you need for flavor but not finish off the container!

Same rule applies for the second product pictured – the Barbecue pack includes the same chicken with a BBQ dipping sauce. Save on sugar (it has 8 grams for the whole container) and keep your BBQ dipping to a minimum.

Closing thoughts: utilize these types of packs for an “in a pinch” situation but don’t rely heavily on them. I still don’t love highly processed chicken and I fear these would get old pretty fast. All in all, if you focus on the chicken with a bit of the sauce and only use these when really needed…not a bad product to keep in mind!
